ACCS-ARM Design Challenge 2016 showcases pan-India engineering innovations, yet again!!

Among the pan-India initiatives championed by the Advanced Computing and Communications Society (ACCS) as a means to realize its mission of enhancing learning and engineering insights amongst engineering students is the annual, ACCS-ARM Design Challenge (ADC).

For this edition of ADC – ADC2016, like each year, more than 400 entries from across the nation are received, addressing the key challenges in Smart Transportation Systems focussed on Smart Vehicle Aggregates and Inter Vehicle Communications & Connectivity. 125 teams were shortlisted for interactions and jury scrutiny among which 25 teams were selected for mentoring. These teams are diligently examined by seasoned juries in two zonals – conducted at IIT Madras and VNIT Nagpur resulting in 14 teams competing for the top honours.

The finalists showcased their designs – with actual working prototypes, reviewed and judged by an automotive industry veteran jury. TVS Motors hosted the finals at their Institute of Quality & Leadership (IQL) at Anekal, Karnataka. TVS Motors provided a walkthrough of the assembly line at their Hosur plant.

Five teams were recognized for their innovative projects by Dr. V. Kovaichelvan, Senior Vice President and Director of IQL, Dr. Jabez Dhinagar, Vice President of Advanced Engineering Group at TVS Motors, Mr. Ovidiu Olaru, Head of Research and Development at Continental Automotive and Dr. Saragur Srinidhi, President of Advanced Computing and Communications Society.
The team from Sri Ramdeobaba Institute of Engineering and Management, Nagpur bagged the First prize Rs. 1,00,000/- for their project “Safe Ride Helmets”. The institute was represented by Sarthak Kelapur, Madhulika Bhagwatkar and Ankit Gadpayle and were mentored by Prof. Jitendra Zalke from the Department of Electronics Design Technology.
