Dr. Jabez Dhinagar is currently working with TVS Motor Company Limited as Vice-President (Advanced Engineering Group) in Hosur. TVSM is one of the leading Automobile company with a turn over of USD 1.8 Billion. It has its factories in India and also in Indonesia. His association with TVSM is for about 13 years and his current responsibilities include both New Product development and Technology development.
He led the team to develop the first 3-wheeled city taxi from TVSM with CNG and LPG fuel options. Currently he leads Electrical and Electronics team for both New Product development and Technology projects. The areas of work include hybrid and electric powertrain development and corresponding electronic controls.
Before joining TVS Motor Company Ltd., he worked with Engineering team in GE Transportation at Bangalore, which is part of GE, USA. In his last assignment at GE, he was as Technical Lead in Engine Control systems. He was heading the In-house design and development of new Tier II engine control.
Prior to joining GE Transportation, he had a 9 years experience at Engineering Research Centre at Tata Motors Ltd. Pune. His critical accomplishment was in developing one of the engine family for Indica. He held various positions including emission development for diesel engines and instrumental in establishing many modern test facilities related to powertrain development.
Dr. Dhinagar has a rich and varied industrial experience of over 24 years spanning small engine design & development, engine development, engine calibration, engine durability development, R&D facilities development of new control algorithms and embedded systems. He has 130 patents in India/US, and 38 international and national publications.
He is an active member of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He is also a life member of the Combustion Institute of Indian Chapter.
Dr. Dhinagar completed his Bachelor of engineeing (Mechanical) from College of Engineering, Anna University and Master of Engineering (Automobile) from Madras Institute of Engineering, Anna University. His Ph.D work in Mechanical Engineering was from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai in the area of new combustion technology for Diesel engines.
