Bengaluru, December 20, 2024: The 29th International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communications (ADCOM 2024) successfully concluded today at the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-Bangalore). Organized in association with IIIT-Bangalore from 18th to 20th December 2024, this year’s edition focused on deliberating the critical theme of “Responsible AI.”

Prior to the main conference, ADCOM 2024 hosted a workshop on “Ethical Software Engineering Practices” and a full-day tutorial on “Deep Learning with Keras 3” on December 17th, 2024, providing valuable insights and hands-on learning opportunities for participants.

The inaugural session witnessed a warm welcome by Prof. Chandrashekar Ramanathan, Dean (Academics), IIIT-Bangalore, who also serves as the General Chair of ADCOM 2024. Prof. Srinath Srinivasa, Dean (R&D), IIIT-Bangalore, and the Technical Program Committee Chair of ADCOM 2024, provided a comprehensive overview of the conference agenda. Mr. Jailendra Kumar, President of ACCS, emphasized the critical importance of Responsible AI in the face of its widespread adoption in everyday life. Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, delivered a keynote address highlighting the institute’s significant strides in achieving academic and research excellence.

A distinguished guest keynote address was delivered by Prof. Virginia Dignum, Chair of the Social and Ethical Artificial Intelligence and a member of the Global AI Council at the World Economic Forum. Prof. Dignum provided valuable insights into the collective efforts required to build a robust framework for “Responsible AI.”

The conference showcased a diverse range of research through the presentation of 35 accepted papers by authors from across the country and 12 insightful invited keynotes from domain experts in the industry. A captivating fireside chat with Prof. Virginia Dignum further enriched the discourse on the ethical implications of AI.

A notable highlight of the conference was the “Ignite AI Startup Pitch Fest,” where 15 promising startups presented their innovative business propositions to a panel of four leading investment firms. This platform provided a valuable opportunity for startups to connect with potential investors and showcase their cutting-edge AI solutions.

A post-conference tutorial on “Deep Reinforcement Learning with MATLAB” was held on the final day, offering participants an opportunity to delve deeper into this emerging field.

ADCOM 2024 successfully concluded with a vibrant exchange of ideas, fostering collaboration among researchers, industry professionals, and students. The conference served as a crucial platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities presented by AI and charting a path towards a future where AI is developed and deployed responsibly.
