AI can play a transformative role in the development sector as it can help us address social issues efficiently and equitably. However there are ethical and social concerns that cannot be ignored. This talk will explore responsible AI practices in the development sector that ensures fairness, transparency and accountability. The talk will cover multiple deployed solutions and analyse them from a responsible AI lens to examine how they address data privacy, bias, transparency and explainability.

Bio
Minesh is a machine learning scientist at Wadhwani AI. He leads teams solving problems in public health and agriculture using computer vision, NLP and document image understanding. He holds a PhD degree in computer science from IIIT Hyderabad. His research interests include machine-understanding of multimodal content and language technologies for low resource languages.
