Online Content Moderation at scale
Abstract
The web has become an essential part of our information ecosystem, with platforms like Wikipedia, YouTube, and Google Maps hosting user-generated content. However, these platforms are vulnerable to abuse—whether intentional (fraud, misinformation, hate speech) or unintentional (bias, errors). Ensuring a safe, accurate, and enriching user experience is a major challenge, particularly given the rapid adaptability of malicious actors and the complexity of handling billions of documents at scale. In this talk, I explore some of the toughest challenges faced by the industry in managing information integrity and share insights into solutions being implemented to protect users.
